Fincantieri, order worth over 1 billion dollars in the North Sea

Fincantieri sets sail for the North Sea. It does so through its subsidiary, the Norwegian Vard, which was awarded an order worth over one billion dollars from the Dof Subsea-Technip joint venture.

The order, which consists of the construction of four offshore construction support and pipelay vessels, is the most significant in Vard's history and one of the most important in the industry. Two vessels will be built in the Romanian shipyard of Tulcea, set up in Soviknes, Norway, and will be delivered in the second and third quarters of 2016. The other two, however, will be born in Brazil and will be ready between the last quarter of 2016 and the second of 2017. The design of the new ships was developed by Vard in synergy with Dof and Technip, while the Dutch Huisman will produce the pipe-laying equipment).

Vard, a Norwegian company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, is a world leader in the design and construction of support vessels for oil and natural gas extraction and production.
