Enel has inaugurated the first renewable energy plant ever built in the Mexican state of Tlaxcala, located in the municipalities of Tlaxco and Hueyotlipan: this is the 220 MW Magdalena II solar park, costing an investment of 165 million dollars through the renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power México.
With the completion of Magdalena II, EGPM exceeded 2.300 MW of managed capacity, of which 977 MW comes from wind energy, about 1.308 MW from solar energy and 53 MW from hydroelectric energy. At the same time, the company is completing wind farms totaling 593 MW, including Amistad II and Amistad III, approximately 100 MW each, and Amistad IV, approximately 149 MW, all located in the state of Coahuila, as well as the Dolores plant of 244 MW, located in the state of Nuevo León.

Magdalena II is EGP's first project in Mexico aimed at the sale of the entire production of electricity to private buyers on the country's wholesale electricity market. The plant consists of about 550.000 bifacial modules capable of generating about 640 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of about 350.000 tons of CO into the atmosphere2 every year.
In line with its Creating Shared Value (CSV) model, aimed at combine the development of business with the needs of local communities, Enel has implemented its Sustainable Construction Site approach in this plant, combining a culture that aims at the rational use of resources with water saving and waste recycling systems, as well as initiatives to support local communities. The latter include the employment of local workforce, the donation of wooden crates and pallets used in construction works for the production of furniture, the organization of vocational training courses and visits from universities in the region in order to showcase the process of building a photovoltaic system.
