REGIONAL ELECTIONS - After a fiery eve of controversy over the so-called "unpresentables" and Bindi's anti-Renzi rancor, today we vote in 7 Regions but enemy number one is abstentionism which threatens to cause mass desertion of the polls -The Pd hopes to win in at least 4 Regions but perhaps more – Here are the candidates

REGIONAL ELECTIONS – After a fiery eve of controversy today we vote in 7 Regions

Sunday from 7 to 23 they are called to the polls almost 22 million Italians, i.e. well over a third of the Italian electorate, between regional and administrative elections. To be precise, we will vote in 7 Regions (Veneto, Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Campania and Puglia) and to elect mayors and councilors of 512 Municipalities of the Regions with ordinary statute (including 12 provincial capitals). Voting is also held in 10 municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia (of which no provincial capital), in 167 municipalities of Sardinia (of which 3 provincial capitals) and in 53 municipalities of Sicily (of which 2 provincial capitals). In Sicily we vote on Sunday from 8 to 22 and also on Monday 1 June from 7 to 15.

To be precise, the elections in the Regions with ordinary statute, in Veneto, Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Campania and Puglia, will be of interest 18.976.354 voters, of which 9.156.839 were male and 9.819.515 were female. The elections in 679 municipalities of regions with ordinary statute and of Sardinia (organized by the Ministry of the Interior) will instead involve 4.487.862 voters, of whom 2.176.660 are male and 2.311.202 are female.

The ballots will start from 23 pm on Sunday, immediately after the conclusion of the voting operations, and the ballot is foreseen only for the municipal elections (Sunday 14 June) and for Tuscany, if none of the candidates reaches 40% + 1 of the votes in the first round (according to polls, this shouldn't happen). In any case, the winner should be the party of the undecided and those who will not go to the polls: according to polls, in some regions abstention is expected to reach record levels.

HOW TO VOTE ELECTIONS IN MUNICIPALITIES WITH A POPULATION OVER 15.000 INHABITANTS OF REGIONS WITH ORDINARY STATUTE (BLUE CARD)

The form bears the names and surnames of the candidates for the office of statutory auditor, written in a special rectangle, under which are shown the marks of the list or lists with which the candidate is connected. The voter, with the copying pencil, will therefore be able to cast his vote: or for one of the lists by tracing a sign on the relative mark (the vote expressed in this way is valid both for the voted list and for the candidate for the office of statutory auditor connected to it) or for a candidate for mayor, tracing a sign on the rectangle bearing the relative name, and on the tag of the list or one of the linked lists to the mayoral candidate himself (also in this case he casts a valid vote both for the candidate for the office of mayor and for the selected associated list); or for a candidate for mayor, tracing a sign on the rectangle bearing the relative name, e for an unlinked list by drawing another mark on the relative mark (the so-called split vote, attributed both to the candidate for the office of statutory auditor and to the unrelated selected list); or for a candidate for mayor tracing a sign on the rectangle bearing the relevant name, not ticking any list marks (the vote expressed in this way is attributed only to the candidate for the office of mayor). For the choice of municipal councilors and for voting in municipalities with a population of up to 15.000 inhabitants, further information (as well as the results) can be found on the Viminale website.

ELECTION CARD

The Ministry of the Interior reminds that voters, in order to exercise their right to vote at the electoral offices of the sections in which they are registered, must show, in addition to a valid identification document, their permanent personal electoral card, which has replaced the electoral certificate. In order to facilitate the release of undelivered electoral cards or duplicates, the municipal offices will also be open today, Saturday 30 May, from 9 to 18, and Sunday 31 May for the entire duration of the voting operations, and therefore from 7am to 23pm (8am-22pm and Monday 7am-15pm in Sicily).

REGIONAL CANDIDATES

At the political level, attention is almost entirely directed towards the outcome of the elections in the 7 Regions called to vote: the session is a test case for the government majority, which should not have problems in the three regions of the Center and in Puglia, but which will hardly see glimmers open in Veneto, and above all which risks big - for various reasons - in Liguria and Campania. In Liguria, an almost certain victory is instead undermined by the entry into the field of a candidate from Civati, while in the region of Naples the “unpresentable” scandal, who just yesterday overwhelmed the same candidate for president of the Democratic Party, Vincenzo De Luca, could overturn the prediction of a game that seemed to be won.
