The largest widespread museum in Italy reopens its doors. So writes theHistoric Homes Association in presenting Sunday 21 May 2023 which reopens the doors free of charge to visits to over 400 exclusive places such as castles, fortresses, villas, parks and gardens. "An immersion in history that still today makes our country identifiable in the world and that could form the cornerstone of the country's long-term sustainable development", underlines the Association which is celebrating today the XIII edition of the National Day of Italian Historic Houses.

Italian historic homes: the events of May 21st and the competition open to all

The doors of villas and castles like that of Stone Tower in Lazio or the villa Sagramoso Sacchetti in Verona. On the other hand, due to the terrible flood, visits to historic homes in Emilia Romagna have been cancelled: Villa La Riniera, the Palazzina Malvezzi Campeggi, Villa Marana, Villa Paleotti Isolani, the atelier of Tullio Vietri and the Boncompagni and Bentivoglio palaces in Bologna, will remain closed "because of the bad weather that is hitting Emilia Romagna and out of respect for the victims of these adverse events", explains the press release from the Bologna section.

Also this year the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane and Photolux Festival have promoted, in collaboration with Instagramers Italia ETS, the challenge for everyone Instagram users. 

To participate, simply publish a content (photo, carousel, reel or story as long as it is highlighted) on your Instagram profile using the hashtag #challengeadsi2023 and/or mentioning @dimore_storiche_italiane, @photoluxfest and @weareigersit. 

The 25 most representative digital contents of the courtyards, gardens and exteriors of the homes will be the subject of a virtual exhibition accessible on the ADSI and Photolux Festival websites and will be shared on the instagram accounts of the three promoters. An author selected by the jury will be invited to participate in a special dedicated visit to a historic residence in their city of residence. The competition press release is attached.
