Gazprom, an energy giant controlled by the Kremlin, has decided to cut its gas supply by 40%. ENI, the multinational that deals with the distribution of gas throughout the Italian territory. The decision, according to the opinion of the Technical-Scientific Committee of MiTe (Ministry of Ecological Transition) should have no immediate impact. Yet the effect of the news alone has already led to an increase in the cost of methane on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, which rose from 82,5 to 117,74 euros, with a peak of 134 euros/MWh. A trend that could worsen in the coming months and which raises many doubts about the stability of common stocks, in view of the winter.
But how do they translate into bill end of business this news? According to what collected by the associates Assium, in the coming months all companies with energy bills (gas and electricity) that impact more than 10% on turnover will be faced with "definitive" choices that will condition production. The so-called energy-intensive companies will find themselves – as early as November 2022 – with gas bills (and February 2023 with those for electricity) with costs increased by 500% In many cases.
Assium and its certified Utility Managers
The negotiations for a remodulation of the contracts, still in progress, therefore require farsightedness and well-considered choices that have never been necessary in the past. Assium already has a virtuous support and updating network dedicated to businesses. It is that set of skills typical of a professional figure that Assium has fought to certify through a UNI standard (11782 of 2020): theUtility Manager, or an expert in utilities (electricity, gas, mobile, landline and connectivity), who acts as a bridge between suppliers and SMEs.
A certified Utility Manager supervises and advises on signing supply contracts or updating existing ones on more advantageous terms, helps in invoice control and solves any problem related to utilities.
The thermal year, i.e. the reference time period for contracts, the duration of which runs from 1 October to the following 30 September, is about to come to an end and this is the period in which entrepreneurs sit down to renegotiate the terms of the previous contract or to look for an operator that offers more advantageous sales conditions and greater supply guarantees. It is therefore the best time to make an informed choice in the direction of those who have promoted healthy and fair behavior on the market, fostering dialogue, knowledge and trust between economic and social players.
