Customs Agency, agreement with Assonime

Assonime will collaborate with the Customs and Monopolies Agency to promote the development and consolidation of customs skills in Italian companies.

This emerged yesterday during a meeting between the new director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Giovanni Kessler, and the co-director general of Assonime, Ivan Vacca.

The meeting was an opportunity to renew and further consolidate the institutional collaboration between Assonime - which brings together more than 400 Italian companies of excellence, from all production sectors - and the Italian Customs Administration, increasingly projected into the role of catalyst of the competitiveness of our country and of enterprises in the field of international trade.

The partnership aims to spread awareness among companies of the strategic importance that the "customs factor" has in company decisions: in fact, the establishment of a correct, aware and loyal relationship with the customs involves effective savings in time and overall costs relating to international trade, facilitates more efficient management of production and commercial processes, and induces a reduction in the risk of committing errors and irregularities subject to sanctions.

The activities focused precisely on the issue of compliance - and, in particular, on the examination of the figure of the authorized economic operator (AEO), which in the new Union customs code constitutes a privileged way of accessing significant simplifications and benefits - and the initiatives carried out this year by Assonime in collaboration with the Customs and Monopolies Agency.

In 2018, Assonime will promote a cycle of seminars aimed at business managers, in which the managers of the competent central areas of the Customs Agency will take part as speakers, which will be aimed at deepening the fundamental customs institutes for corporate governance – the classification, origin and value of goods – which affect all business sectors involved in contractual dynamics with foreign markets (management, taxation, finance, compliance, logistics, commercial, supply chain, accounting and administration, etc.) .

In 2016 Italy - report the trade statistics of the Ministry for Economic Development - exported goods and services for 417 billion and imported goods for 368 billion euros. But, despite its significant share in world trade (2,9% for exports, 2,5% for imports), the customs culture does not yet fully permeate the entrepreneurial fabric of the peninsula. Often these issues are not assigned a specific function within the corporate structure and often, due to a lack of specific management training, Made in Italy companies do not use the institutes and procedures present in the new European and international regulations which can ensure an efficient and competitive management of their own.
