Coronavirus and TV, the Hunters series on FIRST Arte

One of the consequences of the coronavirus is that cinemas, if not really closed, are less and less frequented precisely for fear of contagion. TV benefits from this, with Italians who consequently stay much more at home, glued to the TV: and in fact, in the last ten days, ratings have taken off by 10%. In this context, the new series on Amazon Prime Video, starring Al Pacino, arrives at its best: the title is Hunters and the film model is that of Inglourious Basterds, the successful 2009 film by Quentin Tarantino. The series is divided into ten captivating episodes and is reviewed on FIRST Arte by the critic Patrizio Rossano.

It's a story for the most part drawn from memories of real events both in Nazi concentration camps and after the end of the war when the search for criminals who managed to escape from Germany took place in different parts of the world. “There is no doubt – writes Rossano – that we are dealing with a new model of visual narration. There is a noticeable difference between the television story and the cinematographic one, where the former requires more "contained" times and script settings than the latter which instead can enjoy a more complete breath".

It's not just about "history", claims the critic on the FIRSTonline culture site, let alone the visual reconstruction of true events. Nor is it a question of "fantastory" although the fundamentals of the narrative are solid and irrefutable (except for inventing situations, such as the human chess game, which do not appear to have taken place).
