Champions, between Inter and Lazio it will be a playoff. Milan in Europe

Only next Sunday's final match will decide who enters the Champions League between Inter, defeated at home by Sassuolo, and Lazio, held on a draw by Zenga's Crotone – Bergamo's draw against Atalanta opens the doors to Europe League to Milan but with or without preliminaries? – The fight for salvation is still wide open in a very exciting championship

Champions, between Inter and Lazio it will be a playoff. Milan in Europe

All postponed to the next day. The one that, among the many verdicts, will tell us who between Lazio and Inter will go to the Champions League, but also if Milan will be able to qualify for the Europa League without going through the tricky summer preliminaries. The big winner on Sunday, paradoxically, is Spalletti's team, which after the post-Sassuolo funeral found itself once again in the running for fourth place. Merit of Zenga, able to stop Inzaghi in a fiery game: the coach may not be able to save Crotone, third last and expected from the away match in Naples, but he certainly deserves a gift from his old club.

However, the 2-2 at Scida, apart from Inter, really doesn't please anyone. Strong disappointment for the landlords, who were ahead up to a few minutes from the end and now the main candidates to reach Verona and Benevento in Serie B, as well as for the guests, who thus throw away the chance given to them by Sassuolo. With 3 points Lazio would have mathematically closed every Champions League discussion, instead they will have to play for everything in next Sunday's super challenge at the Olimpico.

“It was a game to win, the first of two match points – sighed Inzaghi – We knew it wouldn't be easy, we probably deserved the win but never mind: we'll play everything against Inter at home. We will have to be brave like all year round”.

And to think that the approach had been perfect, so much so that Lazio took the lead after just 17' with Lulic from a penalty. But then Crotone, driven by the strength of desperation, first found an equal with Simy (29'), then even overturned it with Ceccherini (61'). But just when Scida was looking forward to the feat, Milinkovic-Savic's 2-2 (84') froze him and postponed any verdict until the next matchday, the last of this more fought-over championship than ever.

But there is one certainty: Milan will play in the Europa League. The 1-1 draw in Bergamo, combined with Fiorentina's defeat at home to Cagliari, certifies participation in the next cup, a pity however that it is not yet known whether they are sixth or seventh in the standings. No small distinction: in the first case you enter the group stage directly, in the second you even go through three preliminary rounds (!).

Not the best in the year of the World Cup, which is why Milan will have to beat Fiorentina at San Siro, on pain of even starting the season in mid-July. The fault of a final inattention that cost two points: until Masiello's equalizer (91') in fact, the Rossoneri led thanks to Kessie (60') and were giving themselves a mathematical sixth place.

The convulsive final (first Toloi and then Montolivo expelled) however reshuffled the cards, thanks to another mistake by Donnarumma which led Atalanta to a draw and the almost certainty of going to Europe again next year.

“We don't always blame him – thundered Gattuso – It doesn't seem to me that he made a mistake and in any case he must be calm, he earns a lot of money but he's still 19... There is a bit of regret for how it ended but I'm happy for the team's reaction, it wasn't easy to come and play on a difficult field like this after the defeat in the Italian Cup".

One more week, then Lazio, Inter and Milan will sum up their respective seasons. And, inevitably, some will be quite disappointed.
