Celebrity fight night in Italy 2017: The Italian Palate with Andrea Bocelli

Tonight Rai1 broadcasts Andrea Bocelli's extraordinary concert held at the Colosseum on 8 September as part of the new edition of Celebrity Fight Night, a charity event in support of projects headed by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center. Bel canto was the protagonist and stars such as Elton John, Steven Tyler, David Foster and many others took turns alongside the Maestro.

Il Italian palate, gourmet club of excellence, which had the pleasure of offering its contribution, was chosen as partner of the gala dinner which took place on Saturday 9 September in the splendid setting of Villa Madama, the representative seat of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Alfano together with Maestro Bocelli and over 230 Italian and foreign guests including Sharon Stone, Sarah Ferguson, Kristin Chenoweth and Brian McNight, just to name a few, were able to appreciate the journey of taste entirely devoted to Italy and proposed in menu by executive chef Filippo Sinisgalli, assisted by a brigade of 23 chefs and by sommelier Tiziana Sinisgalli, sister and second soul of the executive.

Following the welcome toast, an Alma Gran Cuvée Franciacorta from Bellavista, the entrée with anchovies alla beccafico, broad beans mousse and sesame wafers was signed by guest chef Maurizio Urso and paired with an Èureka Chardonnay IGT 2016 from Marabino. The "Ravioli del Plin" for the first course were instead prepared by the Palato Italiano staff with a cream of Parmigiano Reggiano Red Cows aged 24 months and saffron from L'Aquila. In this case the sommelier's choice was oriented towards a Camilla Lugana DOC 2016 by Malavasi.

The much appreciated "Rossini fillet according to the Italian palate" found a magnificent counterpart in Valentina Cubi's Morar Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2007. With the pre-dessert, a much-loved dish by chef Sinisgalli, an almond water with Riserva Romano and Breton extra virgin olive oil arrived on the table.

The conclusion of the dinner was then an authentic riot of tastes, colors and combinations at the time of the buffet of Italian desserts, also thanks to the valuable contribution of the guest pastry chef Giuseppe Triolo who freshly prepared the cannoli alla siciliana and who accompanied by numerous modern preparations including a three-layer chocolate cake, which literally snapped up among the guests' appreciation and the cascading white smoke of dry ice wet with water which gave an exciting scenographic effect.

The evening was magnificent above all for the great value of the charity initiative which saw a further exceptional contribution, made known by Mrs. Bocelli during the dinner itself, by Julia and Stephanie Argyros who paid 500.000 dollars.

Among the many pleasant moments Brian McNight, Kristin Chenoweth and Matteo Bocelli at the piano gave birth to a very welcome musical performance; while two artists from our house - Antonio Mazzetti and Renato Missaglia - delivered two of their works to the Bocelli family.

For Il Palato Italiano it was a new great challenge that saw the company as the protagonist in a context of great commitment and prestige, during which it was possible -once again- to enhance and promote authentic Italian cuisine through an extraordinary journey experiential in taste. As always, what distinguishes each proposal of the company is based on raw materials of the highest quality, in refined agri-food productions that highlight the preparations. Also on this occasion Il Palato Italiano underlined and thanked the extraordinary and indispensable contribution given by the partner agricultural producers, true wealth, Italian pride and which were remembered one by one: Acetaia Malpighi, Alisea, Bellavista Franciacorta, Cafè Venezia, Decugnano dei Barbi, Marzadro Distillery, Roman Mill, Levi Serafino, Longino & Cardenal, Malavasi, Marabino, Serrocroce, Valentina Cubi.

Thanks were also added to partners such as the Italian Sommelier Association Lazio, Amira, Bragard and Unox.
