Get24: international call for innovative projects for decarbonisation concluded

Over 500 proposals arrived. Many Italian projects selected including Newcleo for safe nuclear energy and Eni Agri Feedstock for decarbonisation in Kenya. The showcase of the event will be Get24 – Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition Convention scheduled in Milan from 1 to 3 July 2024

Get24: international call for innovative projects for decarbonisation concluded

The “Call for Projects and Papers” by GET24, Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition. The Call invited the presentation of new projects, technological solutions, visions, proposals and ideas aimed at accelerating the energy transition. I'm beyond that 500 proposals arrived from more than 50 countries on 4 continents. A participation that generated two distinct programs: “Roadmaps to Net Zero”, with 56 presentations in 16 sessions, derived from the “Call for Papers”; and “Project X-Change”, which involves over 40 projects focused on decarbonisation, born from the “Call for Projects”.

What is Get24

Get24, scheduled from 1 to 3 July 2024 at the Allianz MiCo Milano Convention Centre, is the only global forum that seeks to uniting the energy sector and industrial ecosystems with high carbon emissions to accelerate the energy transition. It focuses on decarbonisation technologies to help achieve “net zero” goals.

The projects selected from the recent “Call For Projects And Papers” constitute a distinctive focal point of the Forum, aiming to support the energy transition. An independent selection committee, made up of energy transition experts from climate-critical sectors, carefully assessed all proposals to ensure their quality and relevance.

During the Forum, the selected papers will be presented in the delegates' conference in the "Road Maps to Net Zero" theater, while the projects will be exhibited in the prestigious "Project X-Change" theater, frequented by visitors and delegates.

The projects were assessed according to RIO guidelines, considering their relevance, interest and originality. They concern crucial sectors such as industrial policies, energy, finance and industries that are difficult to decarbonise (Hard-to-Abate). It is hoped that these projects will improve understanding of complex issues and foster consensus on challenging topics, introducing innovative concepts that influence professional thinking and practices.

The selected projects

During the “Project X-Change” Conference, various initiatives cutting-edge products will be exhibited, many of which are of Italian origin. An example is the project of New Cleo, which is innovating in the field of nuclear energy with Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), offering a safer, cleaner and cheaper solution. Other Italian initiatives include the program Agri Feedstock of Eni and the Ravenna CSS carbon capture project, the latter a partnership between Eni and Snam for decarbonisation of industries that are difficult to make low-emissions.

Internationally, the plan to build the largest one stands out green hydrogen plant to the world by Neom Green Hydrogen Company, which will produce 600 tons of zero-emission hydrogen per day by 2026. Another notable project is Carbon2Business, supported by the European Innovation Fund, which aims to create the first zero-emission cement plant in the world. Also mention for Helios Cycle, a project that aims to produce iron from iron ore in an environmentally friendly way by using sodium as a reducing agent and emitting only oxygen.

“Over 500 projects and papers from more than 50 countries on 4 continents presented, 40 presentations of as many decarbonization projects and 56 papers on selected paths towards “net-zero” which will be illustrated to delegates and visitors during GET Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition. These are numbers that confirm that considerable innovative work towards “net-zero” is underway and we are confident that GET24 in July will be a unique experience. The Forum is in fact creating an ideal platform to unite the energy sectors, those difficult to decarbonise ("Hard-to-Abate") and finance, to showcase the work done and change ideas and innovations to accelerate the pace towards the transition global energy. Italy represents a central piece in this new approach, standing out for its innovation and originality” he commented Sarah Howell, President of GET Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition.
