“The entry of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti into a possible merger between A2A and Iren, perhaps in a vehicle that would see the dilution of the Municipalities, would be absolutely interesting". So he thinks Bruno Tabacci, Councilor for the Budget of the Municipality of Milan, speaking on the sidelines of a conference on SEA at Malpensa.
For Tabacci, the intervention of the Cassa would serve to alleviate the "difficult to manage" debt of the combined A2A-Edipower which is close to 5 billion, but in the case - he added - "it should be an operation aimed at development and not pure finance". With regard to the recent appointments of the A2A boards, the Milanese councilor said he was satisfied: "We have worked to give serious indications, there is no doubt that the direction of the group is the supervisory board and the president Pippo Ranci is a name of absolute prestige".
At the same time, however, Tabacci underlined: "I still think now that a company listed as A2A needs a company manager, but to do so - he underlined, referring to the dialectic with the other controlling shareholder, the Municipality of Brescia – you need to change the shareholders' agreements and to get married you need to be two. Perhaps the elections to be held next year in Brescia also had an impact. This dual governance as it is doesn't work,” she concluded.
