Bologna: Cdp and Municipality together for territorial development

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Municipality of Bologna to promote initiatives for the economic revitalization of the area, sustainable urban development and upgrading of the infrastructure system. The agreement – signed by the mayor Virginio Merola and the managing director of Cdp Fabrizio Palermo – provides for various areas of collaboration, ranging from financial support to the Municipality to support for businesses, passing through the infrastructural and real estate areas.

In particular, CDP will support companies in the Bologna area and the Emilia-Romagna area, in relation to their research, innovation, growth, internationalization and export needs. With reference to the world of infrastructure, both technical and financial support is provided for the implementation of projects envisaged in the Urban Plan for Sustainable Mobility (PUMS), with particular reference to the development of the local public transport network (TPL).

There is also a support to the real estate area, above all for the acceleration of urban valorisation and regeneration processes, also with direct investments. With reference to the former Sani barracks and the former Mazzoni barracks, CDP Investimenti SGR and the Municipality are committed to identifying development projects that are sustainable from an economic-financial point of view and from a territorial impact point of view.

“The important Protocol – commented Fabrizio Palermo – bears witness to our commitment to the local area. CDP has a strong bond with the city of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, which we intend to consolidate with this agreement in order to be able to work together more and more from a system perspective. This is why, as envisaged in the 2019-2021 Business Plan, we have decided to start a collaboration aimed at identifying, evaluating and promoting important development initiatives in various sectors, capable of generating benefits for local communities and for the country".
