Bentivogli, (Fim-Cisl): Aferpi-ex-Lucchini, "serious contractual breaches"

“We need a breakthrough. Without serious commitments, the extension of surveillance will be indispensable", this was the comment of the Fim-Cisl secretary, Fabrizio Bentivogli, on the sidelines of the meeting at the MiSE on the Aferpi ex-Lucchini dispute

Bentivogli, (Fim-Cisl): Aferpi-ex-Lucchini, "serious contractual breaches"

The meeting at the MiSE on the Aferpi ex-Lucchini dispute between the ceo of Cevital Issad Rebrab, the minister Carlo Calenda, Fim, Fiom and national and territorial Uilm the President of the Tuscany Region Rossi the Mayor of the City of Piombino has just concluded.

The meeting was convened by Minister Calenda and strongly requested by trade unions and workers to obtain precise answers from the Cevital group on productive and environmental investments and financial sustainability.

After 30 days of the provincial strike by the metalworkers of Piombino and the garrison of the municipal council headquarters that had been standing for 13 days, today over 500 workers arrived in Rome to demonstrate their total determination in asking for a change in the management of the dispute and precise answers from the agency.

Minister Calenda, also interpreting the requests made in recent months by the union, forcefully posed the central questions of this phase to the company in the face of serious contractual breaches by Cevital: the guarantee of injection of capital to ensure liquidity, the guarantees on the contract for the supply of the electric furnace, the progress of the demolition program of the old systems and the reclamation of the area.

All issues on which the company has been too general and indeterminate. We support, together with the Government, that Rebrab responds in the next few hours to a formal letter of extension of surveillance. We also need answers on the arrival of the 25 million circulating in the company, the details of the contract for the investment in the electric furnace, the dismantling plan (there are 62 hectares to free up) and the insurance of 40% of hours worked to guarantee the continuation of the solidarity contracts. It is inevitable that without these guarantees the surveillance of the procedure and of the Ministry on the company activity will continue in July.
