The Government evaluates the possibility of relocating or outsourcing i 2.251 redundancies declared by Alitalia to be able to sell 49% of its capital to Etihad. This was announced this morning by the Minister of Transport, Maurizio Lupi, at the end of a meeting with his job owner, Giuliano Poletti.
“The sensitivity of the Government is to mitigate the impact of the redundancies as much as possible – said Lupi -. We are working on the tools and we will have to intervene in every possible way. The company has confirmed what the employment numbers are. This is the perimeter, but within this perimeter one can intervene for one relocation, or figure out if it's possible outsource some services".
Next Wednesday “we will convene the trade unions – continued the minister – and we will hear the proposals they want to make us. We hope that an agreement can be reached even before 15 July (the deadline for reaching an agreement with the unions), also in the light of the joint statement between Alitalia and Etihadwhich creates a positive context. No one can afford to see this operation fail."
