200 Euro Utility Bill Bonus Starting April 1st: Here's How It Works and How to Get It

From 1 ° April 2025, comes into force on extraordinary bonus of 200 euros to reduce the costs of bills energetic. Thanks to the Bills Decree, the contribution is extended not only to families with low incomes, but also to those with an ISEE of up to 25 thousand euros. Here's everything you need to know.

Bills: how does it work and who is entitled to the 200 euro bonus?

The 200 euro contribution now applies to all families with an ISEE lower than 25 thousand euros, thus extending the benefits to those who previously were not entitled to the social bonus, which was limited to those with an ISEE lower than 9.530 euros (or up to 20 thousand euros for families with at least four dependent children).

Arera, chaired by Stefano Besseghini, has clarified that the contribution will be paid in daily installments of 1,64 euros, for a total of 200 euros, from today to July 31, 2025.

For who already receives the social bonus: the disbursement will occur automatically, without the need for further actions. The contribution will be added to the discounts already applied on the bill. Instead, who does not receive the social bonus it will be necessary to present the ISEE to apply. Once verified, the contribution will be disbursed following the methods established by Arera. The Authority will shortly define the details relating to the beneficiaries and the methods of disbursement.

Energy tariffs cut in second quarter

Meanwhile, the electricity rates for vulnerable customers which remain in the regime of Greater protection will come down of 2,4% in second quarter 2025, bringing the cost to 30,54 cents per kilowatt hour, including taxes. This reduction is linked to the expected drop in electricity prices on wholesale markets, following the decrease in natural gas consumption with the arrival of spring. Gas rates for the vulnerable will also be updated on April 2.
