"Compared to the resources we had available, by maintaining the stability pact, we have done real miracles to reduce the tax wedge, meet the needs of workers and set resources in motion for infrastructure". This was stated by the minister of economic development, Flavio Zanonato, on RadioRai1, answering the question whether he was satisfied with the stability law.
“We certainly wanted to do more but I have to say that we did the best with what we had available,” he added.
Zanonato then announced a possible measure that would reduce VAT on e-books produced in Italy after the tax breaks introduced for paper books. "I hope (it will be implemented) next month", he explained, "digital books sold by large international companies enjoy reduced taxation" while this does not happen for digital books produced in Italy.
