Wind Jet, Alitalia slams the door: for Ragnetti the dossier cannot be reopened

The managing director of the national airline, Andrea Ragnetti, arriving at the Ministry of Economic Development for the negotiation: "The dossier cannot be reopened, Wind Jet is in very bad shape and we only discovered it in the last few months" - "Alitalia loses all day 80 thousand euros for the re-protection of Wind Jet passengers stranded on the ground".

Wind Jet, Alitalia slams the door: for Ragnetti the dossier cannot be reopened

End of the games for Wind Jet, which slides towards an inevitable failure. Alitalia should have taken over the small Sicilian low-cost company – crushed by very heavy debts -, but the negotiation has now gone awry. This was confirmed by the managing director of the national airline, Andrea Ragnetti, arriving today at the Ministry of Economic Development for the last round of the negotiations.

An apparently useless summit, given that according to Ragnetti “the dossier cannot be reopened. With them I don't think there is any longer any possibility of restarting any kind of dialogue. We will speak with Minister Passera, but it seems to me that it will be very difficult. We had laboriously found, after weeks of extremely hard work for Alitalia, an agreement that once again Wind Jet was unable to honour. On the basis of that agreement, we would be willing to go ahead, but the problem is that it is a company that no longer exists, it doesn't even have the planes anymore”.

Not to mention that "Alitalia loses 80 euros every day for the re-protection of Wind Jet passengers stranded". Alitalia has taken charge of 6700 Wind Jet passengers to date. Last night alone, the largest Italian company operated 20 special flights carrying 900 passengers. Over 16 customer calls.

"Only a naive person can think that Alitalia knowingly tried to make Windjet go bankrupt - continued Ragnetti -, that it has gone bankrupt or will go bankrupt due to poor management skills". In “we have never changed our minds. None of what we asked for in the June 29 agreement has come true. Then fortunately we found a new understanding on August 2nd, with guarantees that were never given to us. Wind Jet is in very bad shape and we have only discovered this in the last few months.”
