Mild and unstable end of time, the African heat arrives. Despite the delay compared to the season, summer seems to be finally here. The second weekend of July promises really hot temperatures with the arrival of the second heat wave of 2023.
Italy is preparing, in fact, to face one intense heat wave coming from Africa due to the arrival on the peninsula ofanticyclone Cerberus. The North African anticyclone, which already occupies a large part of the Mediterranean and the Centre-South, will extend its action towards our northern regions and the Alps.
Starting on Friday, the temperatures will start to rise dramatically, spreading throughout the country, from North to South. Before, however, experiencing the African heat, Friday we rthey will experience frequent thunderstorms especially in the north and on the middle Adriatic. The weekend promises to be really hot on the islands and in part of the territory. In Sardinia we provide temperatures above 40° degrees.
The intense heat will be sstable and persistent until the middle of the month in the southern regions and part of the Center. Conversely, in the North, after a peak of oppressive heat over the weekend, some downpours are likely to temper the weather early next week. AND there will be no respite even in the evening hours. During the night, in fact, it will be thegrandfather present to make the Italians sweat. The African currents, as they cross the Mediterranean Sea, will become loaded with humidity, creating a sultry and oppressive climate.
Weather: Friday 7th July
Starting Friday July 7, the heat will begin to increase in almost all of Italy, with mostly sunny weather.
The first part of the day will be characterized by mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies, although there will be more clouds in Piedmont, along the northern and central Apennines. In the afternoon, clouds and brief thunderstorms are expected in the Piedmontese Alps and in the Marche and Abruzzo Apennines. Temperatures will rise, with values between 28 and 33 degrees, and peaks of 35-36 degrees in the Islands. The winds will be southern in Sicily, with temperatures that can reach 36-38 degrees.
Weather: Saturday 8th July
On Saturday, the heat will increase almost throughout the country, with a mostly sunny climate. However, in the early hours of the day, they might experience some showers or thunderstorms in the areas of the Northwest, especially in the areas close to the Piedmontese Alps. Temperatures will reach peaks of 40°C in the inland areas of Sardinia, while they will be slightly more mitigated on the peninsular regions, with higher values in the Tyrrhenian regions which could reach 35/36°C.
Weather: Sunday 9th July
Sunday will arrive heat will continue to intensify with Cerberus who will have reached the whole peninsula. The weather will remain stable and sunny in most of the country, with few clouds. However, there could be isolated heat storms on the Alpine borders, but of short duration. The maximum temperatures will rise further, with peaks of 40 degrees or higher in the central-southern inland areas and in the islands. In Sicily, temperatures above 40 degrees are expected. At least 43°C will be reached on the Nuraghi Island in Sardinia, but peaks of 45-47°C are not excluded. High temperatures will also be reached in the Centre-North, with values of 37-38 degrees in Florence, Rome, Milan, Padua, Bologna, Pavia and Ferrara.
