“Lombardy is the land of tax evaders. If we look at the data of the first voluntary disclosure: of the 129.565 voluntary declarations made, Lombardy has 49,07%, in terms of capitalization. We are at 47-48% of the national total which is around 60 billion euros”. This was declared by the Prosecutor of Milan, Francesco Greco, speaking at the conference "Cost of crime and protection of businesses" organized in the Milan branch of the Bank of Italy.
Greco then underlined that tax evasion that “Lombardy is by far in first place for voluntary disclosure, followed by Piedmont and Emilia Romagna”.
The voluntary disclusion, he concluded, was also a positive fact "because it is difficult to attack capital abroad and therefore it is better to bring it back peacefully" and moreover "it has created an enormous wealth of information with which we are still organizing our investigative activities ”.
