Verona, meetings on landscape in the arts

After the first meeting held on 23 March ("Environments and urban places interpreted by artists and architects: forms, meanings and perspectives"), on Saturday 20 April at 10,00 the second study day entitled " Places interpreted, landscapes represented”.

The landscape as a system of signs, as a form of representation of reality, of the study and investigation of historians, architects, artists, photographers and urban planners. Around these themes and the role of the arts and their protagonists who analyzed the characters and configurations of the landscape that make it an object of perception and use, with study days entitled “Landscape in the Arts”.

Promoted by the University of Verona and the Inter-University Doctoral School in History of the Arts and curated by Loredana Olivato, Daniela Zumiani and Enrico Gusella, the meetings take place in the Seminar and PhD Hall of the Department of Time, Space, Image, Society, in the Palazzo di Lettere in via San Francesco 22, are aimed at addressing the different characters and forms that characterize the contemporary landscape, one of the most topical themes in the field of artistic and photographic investigations.

The second day of study is centered on view of the authors and will be attended by Amerigo Restucci, Rector of IUAV – Venice, and five Italian photographers:  Raffaello Bassotto (Verona), John Chiaramonte (Milan), Luca Chistè (Trent), Erminia DeLuca (Milan) and Cesare Gerolimetto (Bassano del Grappa). During the meeting, the different ways of interpreting and representing the landscape will be addressed, a theme which in recent years has become of fundamental importance as well as the reason for studying and analyzing the urban and social transformations of our time.

During the study days  in the PH Neutro Gallery (Verona, Via Mazzini 50) is in progress there show “Shapes of the contemporary landscape” with photographs by Raffaello Bassotto, Luca Casonato, Giovanni Chiaramonte, Cesare Gerolimetto and Josef Rainer. The exhibition is curated by Enrico Gusella, Loredana Olivato and Daniela Zumiani.
