Venice, precious jewels of the Maharajas stolen

From the surveillance videos it seems to emerge that the thieves, two or perhaps even more, after having stolen the precious items from the case of Palazzo Ducale, immediately mixed with the crowd of visitors to the exhibition, thus leaving unnoticed.

Venice, precious jewels of the Maharajas stolen

Only a few months ago we announced the exhibition "Treasures of the Mughals and Maharajas“, hosted at Ducal Palace a Venezia and which has already seen many visitors given the beauty of the exhibits.

The exhibition with over 270 objects exhibited under the curatorship of Amin Jaffer, chief curator of the Al Thani collection and by Gian Carlo Calza, distinguished scholar of Far Eastern art, with the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli, since its inauguration on 9 September , gave the public strong emotions, allowing them to get to know the legendary Indian jewels and diamonds steeped in history, the expression of a refined artistic taste and a perfect mastery of technique. Shining gems, precious stones, ancient and legendary jewels, alongside contemporary creations on a journey through five centuries of pure beauty and undisputed craftsmanship, a mirror of the glorious Indian tradition: from the descendants of Genghis Khan and Tamerlane to the great maharajas who, in the XNUMXth century , commissioned jewels of unrivaled beauty and extraordinary modernity from the famous European maisons.

It was just this morning, the last day of the exhibition, that some of these jewels disappeared from an exhibitor. There is talk of 30 euros as an insurance value, but probably not coinciding with the true value, perhaps a millionaire, of what it should be for the brooch is a pair of earrings. The coup would have been carried out by two thieves, one acting and the other covering him, who blended into the crowd of visitors. At the moment, as explained by the Venetian commissioner Vito Gagliardi, experts have been called from Rome to collaborate in the investigation. For the theft, the public prosecutor of Venice has opened a file against unknown persons which has been entrusted to the deputy Raffaele Incardona.
