Use: from today nothing will be as before

“From Wednesday, whatever the outcome of the US presidential elections, the world will never be the same. A Hillary victory would mark a change of pace. With the elections also in France and Germany and with the Italian referendum we are at a crossroads for the whole West: build the future or express only impotent anger"

From Wednesday, whatever the outcome of the US presidential elections, the world will never be the same again. The wind of populism is felt strong on both sides of the Atlantic. Personally I hope that Hillary Clinton wins, not only for the skills already demonstrated as Secretary of State and for her willingness to continue Obama's policy, but also because it would mark an epochal change of pace: the first woman to lead the most important western democracy . Not just a crack but a strong and visible blow to that glass ceiling which blocks the growth of women and the recognition of their abilities. If Clinton were elected, women could aspire to any role.

But it won't be just America that will turn the page in the next few months, in one direction or another. In the spring there will be presidential elections in France and soon after in Germany. Here too the picture is uncertain with a lot of discontent that is ridden above all by the right and anti-politics. If we look at home, the December referendum appointment marks a real watershed because only with the Yes will reforms be able to continue without throwing away the good things done up to now. The victory of No would be a step backwards of at least thirty years. In short – concludes Lanzillotta – we are at an important crossroads for the entire Western world. We hope that the democratic vote expresses wisdom and understands what is at stake by making the will to build the future prevail rather than anger at the difficulties we are facing ”.
