Ok from the Antitrust to the sale of Italpetroli to Unicredit. The first Italian bank already has 49% of the holding controlled by the Sensi family in its pocket and today it has taken the decisive step to become the owner of the entire capital. The transfer of ownership was decided in the agreement signed on July 26 last year. The operation is part of the restructuring process of the Italpetroli Group's activities and represents the terminal point of a series of sales already carried out to settle the debts contracted with Unicredit.
The Bank “is not active in the relevant markets (oil and real estate, editor's note) in which the target companies operate – reads the latest weekly bulletin of the Authority – nor in other markets upstream or downstream of the same. Therefore the operation determines the mere replacement of one operator with another” and does not violate the laws of competition. On 24 May, the Antitrust had already given the go-ahead for the transfer of the football club As Roma from the Italpetroli Group to Neep Holding, 60% controlled by the Americans led by Thomas DiBenedetto and 40% by Unicredit.
