Unicredit, Ghizzoni: credit for 120 billion in 4 years

According to the CEO, “the trend is generally positive, but the improvement of Unicredit is impressive. Above all in Italy, which has already returned to being one of the great engines driving the growth of our group. Suffice it to say that in recent months our home loans have grown by 250% compared to a year ago”.

Unicredit, Ghizzoni: credit for 120 billion in 4 years

"Unicredit is hiring 1.500 young people, between now and 2018 we will invest 1,5 billion in Italy, in the same period we aim to disburse new credit for 120 billion". This was announced by the Bank's managing director, Federico Ghizzoni, outlining the institute's four-year plan in an interview with Il Messaggero.

“In general – he added – we understand that the situation has begun to show signs of improvement: the figure for bad braking is important. We must not look at the situation before the crisis, at the years 2007 or 2008, but at the year-on-year evolution. The trend is generally positive, but if I look at Unicredit the improvement is impressive. Above all in Italy, which has already returned to being one of the great engines driving the growth of our group. Suffice it to say that in recent months our home loans have grown by 250% compared to a year ago, consumer credit by 7-8%, loans to medium-sized enterprises have more than doubled".

As for the new intervention plan that the ECB is preparing to implement, Ghizzoni maintains that “it will be an important contribution for everyone. Unicredit has already undertaken to finance companies that will submit new investments to us at particularly competitive rates (4-4,5%). But the horse needs to get thirsty again, because so far there aren't many entrepreneurs who ask us to finance serious industrial projects, the only ones that can create new jobs and relaunch the country".

Opening today in Piazza Affari, the Unicredit stock travels just below parity.
