It is held today World Radio Ray, the World Radio Day organized by the UN and Unesco, an event that aims to bring together broadcasters and listeners from all over the world in celebration of the medium which, more than any other in history, has been able to reach the greatest number of people, at the lowest possible cost.
A medium which, according to the words of the UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon, "since its invention more than a hundred years ago, has fired the imagination, opened the doors to change, and has been an information channel for obtaining vital news. Radio entertains, educates and informs".
A medium that, still today, as in the past, manages to connect people and to give voice, in many parts of the world, to those who have none, even in emergency situations. The radio, which seemed moribund and now doomed a few decades ago, has been able to recover a lot in recent years, adapting to the times and to the evolution of technology, finding a new source of diffusion on the web.
And right the web is at the center of the celebrationand, which will revolve around the online platform of the International Committee for World Radio Day, which organizes exchanges of audio recordings (up to one minute long) in order to promote this medium.
