Environmental protection: 49 million agreement for the Rosignano industrial park

The program agreement aimed at promoting the implementation by Solvay of a development plan for the "environmental protection ” with 48,9 million euros of new investments in the Rosignano industrial park which will be supported by 11,6 million in public contributions, of which 11,1 from the Mise and 0,5 from the Tuscany Region.

The interventions envisaged include three distinct projects which, taken together, will make it possible to increase energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of the site, as well as allowing for a containment of steam supply costs and, more generally, improving competitiveness of the soda ash plant, considered essential for the very survival of the entire industrial park of Rosignano.

“Important investments – reads a note from the ministry – because, aimed at favoring the overcoming of the delicate economic phase that the Solvay Group is preparing to face on the markets, they will guarantee at the same time the consolidation of the basic chemicals present in the Industrial Park and significant improvements from environmental point of view, also creating the conditions for the launch of reindustrialization processes capable of enhancing the great potential present in the site".

"The agreement - concludes the Mise - marks a significant step forward to continue implementing the memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting the medium-long term competitive development of the entire chemical hub".
