New Impeachment request against Donald Trump. After the threats of the speaker, Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats turn from words to deeds, formally presenting in the House the impeachment article against the outgoing president, accused of "inciting insurrection" following the assault on the US Congress on January 6 .
The indictment against Trump has as its first signatories David Cicilline, Ted Lieu and Jamie Raskin and will be brought to court on Wednesday, January 13. According to the Dems, Trump threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power and endangered a branch of government".
But impeachment isn't the only front Democrats are moving on. The party has in fact tabled a resolution asking Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th amendment and remove Trump, taking his place until January 20.
“In protecting our Constitution and our democracy, we will act urgently because this president is an imminent threat – Pelosi declared this morning -. Even as the days pass, the horror of the president's assault on our democracy intensifies and immediate action is needed."
