Treu: "Three-year early retirement, to be repaid in small installments with the cheque"

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, the extraordinary commissioner of INPS relaunches the proposal of former minister Enrico Giovannini, which has not entered the Stability Law but which sees "Poletti himself in favour" - It is an advance on a mini-pension which could be requested by workers missing three years of work.

Treu: "Three-year early retirement, to be repaid in small installments with the cheque"

The extraordinary commissioner of INPS, Tiziano Treu, in an interview with Corriere hopes for the introduction of "some element of flexibility on the retirement age", and relaunches an alternative proposal to the advance of the severance pay.

“Some proposals have been rejected because they are expensive – said Treu – while that of former minister Enrico Giovannini has instead been instructed, which concerns the advance of a mini-pension which could be requested by workers who are three years away from reaching the retirement requirements and which would then be repaid in very small installments on the amount of the normal pension”.

The former minister also recalled that “Poletti himself is in favor and even if this proposal has not been included in the stability law, I believe it must be recovered in the coming months. It doesn't cost much and it would be useful, even in terms of potential exodus".

On the severance pay in the paycheck, the INPS commissioner adds: “There are pros and cons. At this stage there is a need to put money back into circulation, especially for lower incomes. And in this sense, the severance pay in the paycheck helps. But it is true that damage to the financing of supplementary pensions can come of it. The Government, however, conceived the measure as experimental, until 2018. So let's see how it goes and then we will decide".
