Yet another black day for rail transport. Chaos broke out at 11.40 this morning and since then the High-speed train traffic slowed down. At least ten convoys recorded delays exceeding 60 minutes.
Train blocked on Bologna-Florence
A train got stuck around 11.30am near Bologna – the Frecciarossa FR 9311 Turin Porta Nuova (8.40) – Naples Central (15.03). Passengers were transferred to a replacement train which arrived in Florence at 14.46 and will arrive in Naples at 18.00, with over three hours late.
The train breakdown has slowed down circulation on the AV Bologna – Florence line: High Speed trains, some of which are routed on the conventional line, can record a longer travel time of up to 60 minutes while some Frecce, directly involved, travel with delays of more than an hour. These are the following trains:
• FR 9311 Turin Porta Nuova (8:40 am) - Central Naples (15:03 am)
• FR 9310 Central Naples (8:55) - Turin Porta Nuova (15:20)
• FR 8508 Rome Termini (9:50) – Brescia (14:00)
• FR 9527 Milan Central (10:10) - Salerno (16:06)
• FR 9413 Venice Santa Lucia (10:26) – Naples Central (15:48)
• FR 9416 Roma Termini (10:35) - Venice Santa Lucia (14:34)
• FR 9626 Rome Termini (10:50) – Turin Porta Nuova (15:10)
• FR 9623 Milan Central (10:58) – Reggio Calabria Central (20:29)
• FR 9625 Milan Central (11:25) - Naples Central (16:07)
Full refund for travellers
"Traffic is gradually recovering after a technical problem with a train near Bologna”, Trenitalia reports on its website. “The Full refund of tickets of the passengers of Trenitalia's Frecce who today experienced a delay of more than an hour due to a fault on a high-speed train stopped on the Bologna – Florence AV line", the company also states.
Traffic also slowed between Bari and Pescara
Things are no better in the South, where traffic is slowed down on the railway line Bari-Pescara due to "a technical problem at a level crossing in Bari Parco Nord and a technical problem on the line in Bari Torre a Mare", the company communicates. "High Speed, Intercity and Regional trains may record a increased travel time up to 40 minutes. Only the FR 9808 Lecce (12:06) – Torino Porta Nuova (21:50) train recorded a longer travel time of over 60 minutes. Regional trains may be subject to route restrictions and cancellations”. On the line, travellers and commuters report serious inconvenience.
