Vodafone leader in 4G international roaming. To say it is the report of Ovum – an independent consultancy firm in the technology, media and telecommunications fields – according to which the English group offers its customers a considerably higher number of destinations than those of the other operators.

The study, in fact, shows that Vodafone is the leader in all 18 markets analyzed and that, in most of these markets, it offers over 100 destinations with 4G roaming, more than double those available through other operators in the same markets. Looking at the alone Italy, Vodafone (with 102 destinations) is followed by Tim (60) and Wind (31).

Serpil Timuray, Chief Commercial Operations & Strategy Officer of the Vodafone Group is satisfied: “In today's connected world, our consumers can make the most of their time spent abroad thanks to the availability of 4G service in a significant number of destinations, without worrying about roaming charges.”

“In terms of speed, 4G technology has the potential to offer mobile customers a more home-like broadband experience,” says Ian Watt, Principal Consultant at Ovum. “Managing 4G roaming globally is not simple and it can take years for a mobile operator to be able to offer such a service. Vodafone has proven to be at the forefront of the development of 4G roaming and has become a leader in the markets in which it operates.”

In Italy, in May 2016 Vodafone anticipated the abolition of roaming costs for consumer subscription plans and for companies, which can use minutes, SMS and Giga from their national plan even abroad, without additional costs.
