Tim announces a new collaboration agreement between FiberCop and WirLab to accelerate the diffusion of broadband in Italy. After the agreement with Connectivia , the Tim group is advancing on the road to agreements aimed at - says a note from the group - "developing the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) access market through WirLab's participation in the FiberCop network co-investment project" .
Under this agreement, WirLab will use the fiber optic secondary access network up to FiberCop's homes to develop the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) access market on 9 Municipalities of Campania: Ischia, Procida, Casamicciola, Forio, Pompei, Scafati, Sant'Antonio Abate, Santa Maria La Carità and Lioni. WirLab's acceptance of the co-investment offer – which the TIM Group creates through FiberCop – follows that of other major operators and confirms the validity of the FiberCop investment plan which will ensure FTTH coverage to 75% of the country's gray and black areas by 2025.
The agreement reached – concludes Tim's note – “confirms the effectiveness of the co-investment model which allows all interested operators to participate in the development of optical fiber in Italy in a framework of infrastructural competition. Furthermore, it accelerates the overcoming of the digital divide on the national territory and allows families and businesses to choose ultra-broadband connections with speeds higher than 1 Gigabit per second".
