Telefonica, shareholder of Telecom through Telcowould have abstained and the board of directors would have given the green light to the spin-off without divisions. Cesar Alierta, owner of Telefonica, did not in fact take part in today's board meeting, for personal reasons, but during the board meeting convened on May 23, he expressed his opposition to the network corporate restructuring project. The newco, which in any case will not start before 18 months, will bring together activities and resources relating to the development and management of the passive access network, both in copper and in fibre, as well as the active component of the fiber represented by OLT (Optical Line Termination) and Cabinet.
