Tim: decision on Sparkle by the end of the month
According to Reuters, TIM's board of directors will make a decision on the sale of Sparkle by the end of the monthe.
Particularly the offer will be examined on January 15th joint €700 million from the Treasury and Asterion (which is binding until January 27); while the final decision could arrive at the meeting of the 22 January.
According to analysts at Intermonte, this acceleration could be linked to the new business plan that Tim will present on February 13, "to definitively exclude the asset from the group's scope". The week of January 20, experts note, "is expected to be crucial on several fronts: January 20 is also the deadline for Tim to negotiate an agreement with the government on the return of the 1998 fee, so we do not rule out that an extraordinary ad hoc board of directors will be called on January 22 to examine this dossier and the sale of Sparkle. From the new industrial plan we expect a greater push towards the corporatization of the two main business units (Consumer and Enterprise), a process that would facilitate possible industrial aggregations or asset sales, but also a focus on some initiatives to simplify the capital structure (possible buyback of savings shares) and corporate structure (reduction of share capital to free up distributable reserves, merger of the two Luxembourg companies Ti International and Ti Finance into Tim), already the subject of press rumors".
