Sole 24 Ore, Intesa: "We are creditors, we will not become shareholders"

The CEO Messina: "It is not Intesa's objective to become a shareholder of the newspaper, then we need to see the Industrial Plan and what is the way to recover our credit or lose as little as possible".

“We are creditors. For me, Il Sole 24 Ore is a company that has important prestige, which it would be a shame to lose”. This was stated by the CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, answering a question on the story of the Confindustria newspaper.

“It is a high-quality newspaper – he added – which also enjoys international recognition. The role as far as we are concerned is that of majority creditors, but not as significant compared to other creditors. Everything must be done to ensure that this newspaper can continue to operate in the best possible way in the interests of the country”.

“It is not Intesa's objective – Messina said – to become a shareholder of the newspaper, then we need to see the Industrial Plan and what is the way to recover our credit or lose as little as possible. The main purpose of the bank is not to have equity in operators other than the banking sector".
