After the Covid-19 pandemic forced families around the world to live months and months indoors, theand requests for homes with balconies, terrace or garden have increased everywhere, so much so that the value of this residential typology has recorded double-digit growth.
But there's more, because outdoor spaces are becoming more and more comfortable, with designer furniture and lights and create ever more special atmospheres and effects. One of them is the famous one Solar designed by Jean Marie Massaud for Foscarini.
Balconies and terraces: rising house prices
In the US, 60 percent of those who intend to buy a house do so only if they find a home with outdoor space, in large French cities the value of homes with outdoor spaces even exceeds that of others without a terrace or balcony by as much as 30 percent.
While in Italy the increases range from 5,6 to 8 per cent, because living outdoors means having a small large open space that helps to withstand long stays indoors. And immediately the made in Italy churned out splendid examples of outdoor furniture and objects of great design, visible at next Salone del Mobile (Fiera Rho Milano, from 7 to 12 June).
Solar by Foscarini: the design light for the balcony
Let's start a selection of the novelties right from the outdoors, with this enigmatic shiny hemisphere, Solar by one of the most famous brands in the world, Foscarini who has been making spectacular lamps on the island of Murano since 1982, collecting prizes such as the Compasso d'oro and recognitions in all international competitions.
Solar, designed by Jean Marie Massaud, is one polyethylene floor lamp, resting on the ground, covered by a circular surface that shields the light and also functions as a support surface, printed in stoneware. It is straight and coplanar with respect to the external edge so as to let the rain slide. The base is retractable so you can tilt Solar up to 15°. The electric cable is covered in neoprene for outdoor use, without a switch for absolute safety; it is dimmable to create different effects according to hours and activities, producing multiple effects and atmospheres.
