Jannik Sinner flies to the final of the tournament for the first time in his career ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo (land, prize pool 6.309.095 €). The 24-year-old South Tyrolean, world number 2 and second seed, beats the 28-year-old German Alexander Zverev, number 3 in the ATP ranking and seeding, with a score of 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 23 minutes.
Sinner will face Sunday April 12 the Spanish in the final Carlos Alcaraz, world number 1, in what can now be described as a never-ending challenge. This is – as we said – the first final on the red clay of the Principality for the champion from Sesto Pusteria, who had lost the two previous semifinals in 2023 (to Rune) and 2024 (to Tsitsipas).
Sinner, what he said after the victory
“I'm very happy,” Sinner said in a hot interview after the semifinal. “I came here looking for answers and feedback. Every day is different, but Today I felt very very solid from the start, playing well from the baselineAnd when you're up a break early, it changes the momentum of the match. Let's see what happens in the final."
Then, a look at the second semi-final and – consequently – at tomorrow's final: “Valentin (Vacherot, ed) continues to show what he is capable of – said the South Tyrolean – but Carlos is the favoriteI can't wait, it's the reason why we train, the reason why we wake up in the morning. Facing him before Roland Garros would be an important test for me., but I have nothing to lose: just getting to the final is important for me. Tomorrow will be the last effort."
