Ema headquarters, it's over: the European Parliament says ok in Amsterdam

Now it's official: the battle for the headquarters of the European medicines agency (Ema) ended definitively with the defeat of Milan. Thursday morning the European Parliament voted in favor of moving the Agency from London to Amsterdam, while correcting the regulation with a series of amendments, which is why negotiations will now have to be started with the Council to find an agreement on the final text.

In particular, the Parliament has placed a series of constraints for respecting the commitments on the Dutch side regarding the delivery of the temporary and definitive headquarters and for respecting the role of the Parliament itself in the decision relating to the headquarters of the EU bodies.

The Parliament's position passed with 507 votes in favour, 112 against and 37 abstentions. The "trilogue", this is the name of the EU institutional negotiations in which the European Commission also participates, will not be brief: according to parliamentary sources, it will last few months. However, this does not call into question the choice of location and the related construction works of the EMA building in the Netherlands.

Therefore fade any remaining hope of Milano, which, after being mocked at the photo finish in the tender for the assignment of the EMA headquarters, she had attempted the way to appeal in light of the shortcomings of the Dutch project.
