The banks are in full crisis but the salaries of bankers are growing. According to an international ranking drawn up recently by the Financial Times, the highest paid banker in the world is Jamie Dimon, the powerful number one of JP Morgan, a bank much talked about these days in Italy for having suggested and obtained from the Treasury the turnaround at the top of the Monte dei Paschi, of which he is advisor with the former minister Vittorio Grilli.
Dimon annually earns 27 million dollars gross, equal to 24,8 million euros. In second place in the global ranking of bankers' compensation is Goldman Sachs head Lloyd Blankfein, who receives $23,4 million, followed by Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam, with €19 million.
According to a survey by Il Sole 24 Ore, bankers' salaries are also on the rise in Italy. mainly due to bonuses. Precisely thanks to a bonus of 770 thousand euros, the former CEO of Unicredit, Federico Ghizzoni, would be at the top of the ranking with 4 million and 666 thousand euros gross, surpassed only by the president of the Good banks, Roberto Nicastro with just under 7 million gross, but due to the extraordinary effect of the severance pay of 5 million and 393 thousand euros collected last year when he left the general management of Unicredit.
Immediately behind Ghizzoni is the former CEO of Banca Popolare di Vicenza, Samuele Sorato, with 4 million and 600 thousand euros, of which, however, 4 million come from severance pay.
