Saipem has been awarded a new offshore E&C contract in Azerbaijan, for a total of approximately USD 1,8 billion. This was announced by the joint-stock company belonging to the Eni group.

In particular, BP, on behalf of the Shah Deniz consortium, has awarded the consortium formed by Saipem, Bos Shelf and Star Gulf a transport and installation contract for the development of 'phase 2' of the Shah Deniz field.

The CEO of Saipem, Umberto Vergine, declared that the Capspio "represents a strategic region for the oil & gas industry: we have been present in the area since 1996 and we have built a solid and unique presence thanks to our skills and expertise in large and complex projects offshore.” The manager therefore expressed his satisfaction with Saipem's involvement in the development of 'phase 2' of Shah Deniz, which will allow the supply of gas to Europe”.

The stock, one hour after the closing of the Stock Exchange, is down by 1,58%.
