Sace and Boeing announce an important agreement intended to support Italian exports of the aeronautical sector and the large number of national companies operating in the sector. A note communicates it.
Sace (Cdp Group) undertakes to guarantee up to 1,25 billion dollars of credit lines for the sale of Boeing aircraft, against supply and subcontracting contracts assigned to Italian companies specialized in precision components for aeronautics. A commitment that can be increased year by year based on the supplies that Boeing will assign to Italian companies.
"The agreement strengthens the collaboration with an international giant in the aerospace sector which has made Italy one of its main partners - said Alessandro Decio, CEO of Sace - Aeronautics has always been a strategic sector for our economy in which we can be even more incisive, gaining ever greater competitiveness in international markets. For us, this agreement represents a commitment to boost new export opportunities for Italian excellence in the sector, with positive impacts on growth and employment for the large supply chain of subcontracting SMEs".
In the two-year period 2015-2016, Boeing purchased 2,5 billion dollars of supplies from Italian companies and, thanks to a solid link with the national entrepreneurial fabric, over the years it has helped to generate 12 jobs along the entire supply chain.
The heart of Boeing's business in Italy is the 787 Dreamliner program, a carbon fiber aircraft of which Leonardo's Aerostructures Division builds 14%. Leonardo's purpose-built production facility in Grottaglie (near Taranto) is responsible for the construction of the center and rear sections of the fuselage, while the horizontal stabilizer is built in Foggia.
Boeing in Italy has approximately 150 direct employees – located between Rome, Naples, Foggia, Grottaglie (Taranto), Viterbo, Milan and Sigonella (Syracuse) – who work in the management of relationships with partners and suppliers, in operational services, in commercial activities, in marketing and communication.
