SACE, 100 million in pipeline for investments in Indonesia

The attention of the "Italian system" towards business opportunities with Indonesia is becoming ever greater. In conjunction with the Italian mission that will take place in the next few days (cf. Indonesia, Italian Mission from 6 to 8 May), SACE has published some data relating to the trend of operations insured with the South-East Asian country. In fact, Indonesia is confirmed as the leading market in South East Asia in SACE's portfolio of insured transactions with a value of 200 million euro (up 16% compared to two years ago) and with a pipeline of 100 million euro in new operations under study.

The SACE Research Office has identified the Indonesian market as the most promising for Made in Italy among the "next generation" markets to which Italian exports have not yet reached high levels, but are preparing to achieve sustained growth, above the global average, in the coming years.

According to SACE forecasts, Italian exports to Indonesia will in fact grow by 10% in the period 2013-2016. Among the main drivers are the opportunities associated with new consumption by the expanding middle class, which rose from 81 to 131 million individuals in the period 2003-2010 (+65%), and with infrastructural and energy development.
