Renewables: UN, record investments of 2011 billion in 211

Investments in renewable energy in 2010 reached a new record, reaching 211 billion euros and marking an increase of 32% compared to 2009. This is what the annual report "Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2011" reports, produced in collaboration between the United Nations Environment Program (Unep) and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Not counting hydroelectricity, renewable sources make up 8,1% of the world production mix in 2010 compared to 7,1% in 2009. The leadership of the sector remains with wind power, with investments of 94,7 billion dollars. Followed by solar (26,1 billion) and projects for biomass and the recovery of energy from waste with 11 billion. Double the mini-photovoltaic, thanks above all to subsidies from Germany, France, Italy and the Czech Republic.
