Matteo Renzi otoday debuts at European Parliament. After the start of the new legislature – yesterday the German Social Democrat Martin Schulz was re-elected to the presidency –, today the Premier and leader of the Democratic Party is called to present our country's program for the six-month Italian presidency of the European Union.
According to rumors, the Prime Minister's speech will focus on two topics in particular: growth e immigration. The speech will be delivered in Italian and will begin this afternoon at 15pm.
Renzi worked on the text until yesterday evening at Palazzo Chigi. "If Europe agrees to give a future to its ambitions, it will be nice to challenge the future together", reads a passage from the speech, in which the Premier would also have included a digression on the city of Florence.
Next to Renzi will be undersecretary Graziano Delrio and Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini, whom the head of government would like to nominate as High Representative of EU foreign policy.
