Renzi: "Italy is back to pre-crisis levels"

For Italians in general and entrepreneurs in particular, the crisis is over. This is testified by the data published by Istat, welcomed with satisfaction by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. According to the latest findings from the National Institute of Statistics, business confidence has risen to its highest level since 2007, a year in which Italy had not yet been hit by the harsh financial crisis that erupted with the subprime mortgage scandal. But citizens are also returning to believe in a positive future: the data on trust has in fact reached the top for 13 years.

Timely comment by the Premier who, addressing the Italian and Cuban entrepreneurs in Havana, said: “For the first time in years there is a profound change of climate in Italy. As certified by Istat, consumer and business confidence has returned to pre-crisis levels. Italy believes it, we are here”.

Going into detail, according to Istat, business confidence grew to 107,5 points in October from 106,1 in September, the highest level since October 2007. In trade in particular, the index reached its highest level since beginning of time series (January 2003).

The same trend is seen in the consumer confidence which in October reached its highest level since February 2002, rising to 116,9 points from 113 in September.
