Radici del Sud: the agri-food sustainability of the South on display in Sannicandro di Bari with the best wines, oils and food and wine products

Radici del Sud: the agri-food sustainability of the South on display in Sannicandro di Bari with the best wines, oils and food and wine products

They go on stage native vines of Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily, but also the precious ones oils from the South: Radici del Sud the great event taking place in the Sannicandro Castle in Bari opens the final day of the annual event to the public of operators and enthusiasts which puts the international spotlight on the wine production of Southern Italy.

Appointment Monday 10 June with the XIX edition of the Show of wines and oils of Southern Italy and the possibility for sector operators and enthusiasts to access the tasting tables and meet the producers present, starting from 15 pm, and participate in the great final party from 20 pm with tastings of the 00 winning wines of the 90 edition of the competition and the buffet dinner on the theme "Sustainability on everyone's lips".

Spotlight on the native vines of Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily

Protagonists of Radici del Sud will be the daily work of wineries, oil mills, agri-food producers, cheesemakers, pastry chefs and chefs, with an incredible basket of products that represent the richness and uniqueness of Southern Italy. In fact, the evening tasting tables with the winning wines of the nineteenth edition of the Radici del Sud competition will be accompanied by a buffet dinner with the proposal of sustainable menus, designed according to the principles of healthy eating and with typical local products, curated by chefs and Apulian agri-food producers. Taking care of the dinner will be: Antonio Scalera (La Bul Restaurant – Bari), Giammichele Pagone (Plebiscito 7 – Casamassima), Francesco Racanelli (Panificio Panzone – Sannicandro di Bari), Angelo Di Cecca (Caseificio Dicecca – Altamura) and Francesco Fieschi (Pasticceria Fieschi – Altamura).

The day of June 10th will open in Sannicandro di Bari starting from 11:00 am with a moment of in-depth analysis in the opening conference on the topics: “New cultivation techniques to protect vineyards from climatic unpredictability”, “Personalise trade fair events to generate more advantages and usefulness for the producer, the territory and the production” and “New tourist routes, new markets, new consumption: who are the main consumers of Southern wine?”. This will be followed by the award ceremony of all the winning wines of the nineteenth edition of the Radici del Sud competition.

National and international juries for blind tastings of the wines of the great Southern wineries

The intense final day of Radici del Sud will be preceded by five days of initiatives dedicated to promoting the quality and value of wine production in the southern Italian regions, through wine tours and tastings dedicated to Italian and international guests, coming from England, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Vietnam, South Korea, Canada and Brazil, and B2B meetings.

To select i winning wines 2024 will be four juries, divided into national and international experts, who will taste blind: on the one hand the Italian experts, who are more knowledgeable about the identity aspects of the territories of origin of the native Southern vines, and on the other the foreign judges who will be able to evaluate the wines with a view more focused on the international market.
