They are Scarlett Biscotti e Adelita Husni-Bey the winners of the 2016 Art Quadrennial. The prizes of the Sixteenth edition of the Art Quadrennial, the most important national exhibition dedicated to Italian contemporary art, underway at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni until 8 January 2017, were awarded yesterday to Rome.
Il Quadrennial prize 16 of 20 thousand euros it went to Rossella Biscotti (Molfetta, 1978), who, thanks to Grandi Stazioni Retail, will also have the opportunity of a showcase at Termini Station. She wins the Illy Prize under 35 of 15 thousand euros Adelita Husni-Bey (Milan, 1985). Among the artists under 35, two special mentions to Alek. O (Buenos Aires, 1981) and Quayola (Rome, 1982).
The prizes, announced by the president of the Rome Quadrennial Foundation Franco Bernabe, were decided unanimously by an international jury composed of Ferran Barenblit, director of MACBA – Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, Volker W. Feierabend, patron of the VAF Foundation in Frankfurt e Susanne Pfeffer, director of the Fridericianum Museum in Kassel and next curator of the German Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale, to which is added Carlo Bach, artistic director of illycaffe, for the illy Under 35 Award.
The Quadriennale, entitled "Other times, other myths", is promoted and organized by the Rome Quadriennale Foundation and the Palaexpo Special Company. The exhibition features 10 exhibition sections, designed by 11 curators, and 99 artists with 150 works, all recent, many even created for the occasion. After all, with the prize we give back to art the good it gives us”.
