ProWein: Italian wine, present in force at the most important international trade fair in the sector

The whole world of wine, spirits and beers will meet in Dusseldorf from 17 to 19 March for Prowein, the most important international trade fair in the sector, which this year celebrates its 25 years of activity with staggering numbers (74.194 exhibitors , 64 nations represented, 711.942 visitors and 843.427 net sqm of exhibition space). Italy, the most represented country with over 1700 exhibitors, will display its wine heritage in two pavilions
On the 15th and 16th where producers from all the main wine territories will be present. Not enough, our country, confirming its leadership position, has already made a request to arrive at an expansion of the tricolor spaces at the fair in the coming years. This in order to further consolidate the Italian brand and its peculiarities not only in Germany, a fundamental outlet where our country covers 36% of total imports, but also in the rest of Europe and above all in Asia, a privileged target, the latter , of the big German trade fair player which, in addition to China, is now also looking at India.
“In the wake of the boom of ProWine China and ProWine Asia - explains Marius Berlemann, director of Prowein, Rome - we are paying attention to the Indian subcontinent as a new potential target, although we are aware that it is still a path to be written. But in the meantime, our growth strategy remains mainly focused on the three-day event in Düsseldorf, which above all means enhancing the logistical aspects to offer the most efficient business platform in the world. If after a quarter of a century we are universally recognized as a point of reference for the sector at an international level”. A winning approach for the director of Prowein who cites the example of Italy “as a successful case history, whose contribution increases from edition to edition, consolidating a bond that is precious to us. And to confirm these results in the coming years as well, we will continue to invest in internationalization, in perfecting the organizational machine and in the quality of the contents, so as to lay solid foundations for future expansion of both the exhibition spaces and our range of action”.
From the new aperitif culture based on 'No Waste' to 'Vini d'altura', there will be various trends and novelties at the center of the 2019 edition, which is preparing to open the doors of 10 pavilions to host all the main regions wineries in the world, together with 400 liqueur producers and 40 iconic Champagne houses present with over 150 labels in the dedicated Lounge.
The fizzz Lounge will wink at the theme of sustainability in particular with the slogan "Zero waste: total recycling behind the counter" to raise awareness of the rational use of materials
ingredients and an optimization of the production cycle, using all the parts of a fruit and recycling in an intelligent way. Indeed, in pavilion 7.0 visitors will be able to taste highly creative cocktails and witness the implementation of these principles.
To enrich the area, moreover, the special "same but different" exhibition on craft drinks (beers, liqueurs and ciders) which returns for the second time, again in pavilion 7.0. next to the fizzz Lounge, but with twice as many exhibitors (over 100 from 22 countries) compared to 2018. It will be an opportunity to touch the best craft drinks on the planet and the most popular ones of the moment, arriving from Germany, Belgium , France, Greece, Italy, Austria and England, but also from the Scandinavian and Baltic areas (Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway and Sweden) and from overseas (Canada, Mexico, Peru and the United States).
To find out about the trends in the wine field, instead, it will be necessary to move to the ProWein Forum, where the two 'talent scouts' Stuart Pigott and Paula Sidore will conduct various tastings that will focus on high altitude wines, field blends, canned wines and emerging varieties such as Chenin Blanc and Gamay (Sunday 17 and Monday 18 March from 18.00 to 19.00, pavilion 10). And if the large Tasting Area will shine the spotlight on the winning labels of the spring edition of MUNDUS VINI, the Organic
Lounge will instead give ample space to organic wines, hosting top producers and the main international associations.
“There will be over 500 initiatives that will animate the ten pavilions of the fair - adds Nicole Funke, Senior Project Manager and member of the ProWein team - including guided tastings, master classes and meetings. To enrich the whole also the evening events branded ProWein goes City which will take place in 60 locations scattered around Düsseldorf. And like every year we will outline the guidelines for the future of the sector with the ProWein Business Report, also produced for the third edition with the support
of the University of Geisenheim. An analysis that since its debut in 2017 to date has already recorded a +60% in terms of participants, involving the most important players of the entire supply chain who, with their point of view, have contributed to making this study the largest indicator
