In the ballot for the election of the mayor of Vicenza, the young dem candidate, Giacomo Possamai, wants to play it his way to intercept cross votes: with the politics of concreteness rather than with the help of national leaders and their poisons

Possamai, the dem candidate for mayor of Vicenza who does not want Schlein or national leaders

The landing at ballot for the election of mayor di Vicenza of the thirty-three-year-old dem candidate, Giacomo May I never, is certainly one of the best surprises to come out of the first administrative round for the Democratic Party. Possamai surpassed the outgoing right-wing mayor, Francesco, by over a thousand votes Rucco, to whose aid almost all the leaders of the right had arrived in Vicenza. Now in the ballot Possamai is playing it, but in his own way: "I want to be the candidate of the territory and talk about concrete things" he says and this is why he does not like the presence of the national leaders of his side, including the new secretary of the Pd Elly Schlein. The hope is to keep out of the controversies and poisons of national politics and to intercept transversal votes in the name of pragmatism. If only the left always behaved like this. Whatever the runoff, the young Possamai deserves applause. And it escapes no one that his down-to-earth politics are a warning to Schlein's vagueness.
