Neapolitan Pizza: in the States they appreciate the Verace more than the imaginative imitations

At the United States Neapolitan pizza I like it classic and true. Much more than the many imitations that are made in a market that with 13 kg of pizza eaten per capita per year, is the first in the world. In order to understand each other in Italy, home of pizza, Unesco heritage, we devour it only 8 kg a year each. The passion of the States for traditional pizza is confirmed by a study that AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) has commissioned totheAmerican Institute of Neurosciences and which was presented in Las Vegas (Nevada) on Tuesday 22 March as part of Pizza Expo and in particular at the meeting of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.

The neuromarketing research, presented in Las Vegas, sees the real Neapolitan pizza beat its American style "sisters" in terms of quality, tradition and flavour.

The Italian product, in this sort of challenge based on the concepts of neuromarketing, an emerging discipline based on the application of neuroscientific knowledge and practices to marketing, wins hands down in the perception linked to the health sector.

An important result obtained in a country that boasts a very close relationship with pizza to the point of being able to count on numerous variations: New York Style, Chicago Style, Detroit Style, California Style and many more, all lined up, in this particular ranking, by the beloved Vera Pizza Napoletana. And with other findings to underline: such as the exponential growth of 52% on the East Coast and the endorsement constituted by the Vera Pizza Napoletana brand, a real driver of choice in the purchasing intentions of the American consumer.

"A great satisfaction for those who, like us, have been promoting and disseminating the Verace in every corner of the world for years - explains Antonio Pace, AVPN President - And who comes at a terrible moment like the one we are experiencing, a period where, more than ever , it is essential to open borders and try to live common experiences. And it is no coincidence that AVPN is engaged in a series of important appointments in the month of March”.

Indeed, the agenda of the Association is quite intense. The first stop was Sigep in Rimini (March 12-16) with workshops and seminars dedicated to enthusiasts and insiders.

Then it was the turn of Las Vegas where, from 22 to 24 March, the Pizza Expo takes place, a convention that saw the presence of the American affiliates of the association and where a competition between pizza chefs took place. The prize for the winner of the Neapolitan Pizza category consists of the right to access, with flight and accommodation, the Pizza Olympics which will be held in Naples from 3 to 6 July. The appointment in Nevada also offered the opportunity to announce the opening of the second Verace school which will be based in Atlanta and which will join the now historic one in Los Angeles.

The same prize went to the winner of the French Neapolitan Pizza Championship, which took place in Toulouse on March 21st.

Closure therefore in France, more exactly in Paris which, on 30 and 31 March, will host Parizza, the most important European fair dedicated to pizza. A prestigious venue which will be the scene of the agreement between AVPN and five transalpine schools which will see their accreditation recognized by the Association of true Neapolitan pizza.
