Pininfarina, champion of made in Italy design and manufacturing, turns 90. Indeed, to be precise, he will complete them in about two months: in fact, it was 22 May 1930 when Battista Farina, known as "Pinin", signed the deed of incorporation of the Pinin Farina body shop. Shortly thereafter, from the factory in Corso Trapani, in Turin, the first custom-built by Pinin, the Lancia Dilambda, is released. Thus began an almost century-long story which, through three generations and profound social, economic and technical changes, sees the small artisan body shop to become an iconic brand, synonymous with beauty and elegance, objectively recognized as an emblem of Made in Italy in the world.

Almost a century, therefore, of cars and objects, events and personalities, prestigious statements, favorable moments and complicated circumstances, always under the banner of innovation, without ever losing sight of the values ​​and that indispensable cult of good taste, typically Italian, so appreciated abroad. To arrive, in 2020, at being a global presence, the maximum expression of automotive style and engineering and an established reality in industrial design and architecture. A group with 700 employees, offices in Italy, Germany, China and the United States, listed on the Stock Exchange since 1986 and included in the Italian Listed Brands basket in which Borsa Italiana brings together the 22 best Italian brands of listed companies.

Yesterday all of this was celebrated with a major event held at the Triennale Milano, in the presence of institutions, customers and stakeholders, in conjunction with the exhibition "The State of the Art of Architecture Milano", of which Pininfarina is a partner, and which will remain open at the Triennale until 29 March. “In his identity – comments the Chairman Paolo Pininfarina – the 2020 Pininfarina is the same as it was in the XNUMXs: the centrality of design, the aesthetic sense capable of creating timeless beauty, the obsession with quality, the strength of a tradition that marries industry, technology and stylistic research, the propensity for long-term collaborations. Consistent with these values, Pininfarina has built 90 years of innovation”.

The 90-year-old Pininfarina is therefore a company that looks to the future through its multidisciplinary expertise in services. The skills historically expressed in the automotive sector – design, engineering, production of limited series – are only a portion of the range of services that Pininfarina offers today. The cross-fertilisation, mainly from Industrial Design and Architecture, allows Pininfarina to offer a new and broader value proposition, in the form of integrated solutions and turnkey projects in all sectors, from automotive to telecommunications, from real summer to boating, from industrial machinery to retail.

With the event at the Triennale, the celebratory events will start and will be distributed throughout 2020 and, after Milan, will touch Geneva for the inevitable appointment with the Auto Show, the city where it all began, Turin, China, a market in which the Company has been operating since 1996 and is present with the activities of Pininfarina Shanghai, and the United States with two different moments: in August at the Concours d'Elegance Pebble Beach, with the establishment of three classes in which collectors will be able to challenge each other by registering the Pininfarina masterpieces of which they are proud owners, and in December in Miami, where Pininfarina of America is present, with an event during the design week.
